Alloy wheels are now fitted to most of today’s modern cars, not only do they look good but give your car better roadholding and handling. These wheels do however need more care as they are being constantly coated with black brake dust and road grime more than any other part of your car. This brake dust is especially prevalent on European made cars.
A little know fact is that most alloy wheels are not finished in alloy metal but painted just like your car body. This is where the problem starts. It is the constant coating of brake dust and road film on this painted surface which can very quickly destroy you nice silver finish. As the car gets driven around the wheels get hot from the brakes dissipating heat and thus baking the brake pad dust onto your wheels.
The best way to avoid the dust baking onto your wheels is to wash them regularly as per the manufacturer’s recommendations. It is also a good idea to hand polish them regularly, just like your cars exterior paintwork, to build up a barrier to protect the painted finish from the elements.
Regular washing by Shine Hand Car Wash will keep your cars wheels, looking like new as we have the right soaps and pressure washers to carefully and professionally remove all the brake dust and road grime that builds up on your wheels and brake system. By doing this regularly (once a week) it will prevent your wheels from being damaged by this black dust, thus keeping them looking like new and helping your important resale value.
If your wheels are damage already and you would like them refinished please speak with one of the managers and we can recommend somebody to repair them professionally for you.
